International Film Festival of Kerala is always an awaiting event for the film lovers. Normally we do recognise people related to film industry, who regularly uses to become part of this event. But it is a matter of fact to mention that there are several common people around us who is much more interested and dedicated towards the act of film.
There is a group of people who are very closely connected. These people gather together in each IFFK. They are familiar to each other as they use to see each other in every IFFK. But they never do maintain any personal relationships and all. Even many of them don’t know others names too. But each year on the last session they grab goodbye with a hope of meeting again on the next year.
On the venues of 20th IFFK, many a people were spotted with an experience of 20 years in IFFK. A number of house wives are also included in that group. One among them is Prameela, who powerfully talks about her experiences in IFFK. She is a person who attended each and every IFFK from the year of 1994. She says that in the early ages she, with her husband used to see a maximum number of five shows per day and now due to bad health conditions the number of shows per day decreased to four. And she is not at all ready to reduce the shows anymore.
Prameela had an interest towards film from her childhood days itself, where she focused on the brighter end of the films. Later when she got married to a film lover and activist, her views on films changed. She with her husband used to saw the films by Russian Film Society and all. Now in this 20th year of IFFK Prameela is able to evaluate films critically in all aspects. Even she is familiar with the technical sides of each and every shot shown on the screen.

On the starting years she was living here in Kerala, based on her academic needs. She was once a research scholar under university of Kerala. Thus she regularly used to be a part of the film festival. After her research she shifted back to Italy but still she comes to India for being a part of this event. She says that, she will surely be attending the film festival until her last breath.
Vinesh Ram and Reena, a couple from Chennai, for whom IFFK is a craze, are others to be mentioned here. Vinesh is Air coast’s deputy manager and Beena is a freelancer. Both of them detach themselves from all other engagements for watching films of their taste. They use to watch a minimum of 3 films per day. Eliamma is another one in such a group, a usual visitor of IFFK. She also speaks out about many a people whom she got introduced at IFFK venues and the relations which is strictly bound to IFFK.
All these people recollect their earlier memories on IFFK and compare it with today’s atmosphere. They are much impressed by the new changes that the authorities had brought in the development and uplifting of IFFK. This is not simply a story of Prameela, Georgia, vinesh ram, Beena and Eliamma but there are a number of commoners yet to be spotted, who waits and become part of this event in a routine way.
