          3 Idiots, an adaptation...

Five Point Someone is a fantastic piece of work by the greatest Indian writer Chetan Bhagat. Here the author discusses about the the life, the pity filled one in an IIT. The wonderful piece of art is excellently modified into a film with needed changes. In both text and film the role of the narrator is played by the same character; Hari Kumar in Five Point Someone and Farhan Qureshi in 3 Idiots. 

Not for this one but for each and every character, changes are made in their names when the story came to screen. On screen Rayan became Rancho, Alok became Raju and so on. Virus is also a creation made in the film, Chetan Bhagath introduces Prof. Cheriyan as a strict HOD rather than a principal. The leading she- character of the story is Neha, who is placed as a pair for the narrator himself. But in film she is named as Pia, Rancho,s pair. Thus the film is made up with hundreds of dissimilarities from the actual text.  Anyway the transmission from pages to frame had been done in a successful manner.             -Arathy R Kurup
